LAKE EUFAULA FISHING REPORT FOR LAKEPOINT RESORT STATE PARK -

October, 2017

Bass fishing has been good the last couple of weeks on the ledges. The generation has been firing the fish up in the afternoons. We have found them bunched up and feeding. We've been catching them on Strike King 6 and 10 XD crankbaits. When the bite slows we've been using a Carolina Rigged worm. The spotted bass are running the largemouths off some places. I encourage everyone to harvest all the spotted bass they legally can. They are tasty eating.

The hybrids and stripers are also feeding when the current is moving. We are catching some grown ones! Big crankbaits and jigging spoons are both working.

Crappie are biting good. They are being caught deep on brushpiles with minnows. The guys that fish them all the time are limiting out quick.

I've not got any reports on the brim and shellcracker fishing recently. The jug fisherman are still catching plenty of catfish.

With cooler weather finally here fishing should get more comfortable. If you are like me I've had enough of the heat. The lake is not as crowded already with hunting season and football season started. That means less fishing pressure and usually better fishing. Fish are already starting to school on the surface in the afternoons. That makes for some fast action. Fall is a great time to book a trip and get out and enjoy the lake and catch some fish.
