Choose one of the many premier fishing destinations in Alabama State Parks
The fishing enthusiast will find freshwater and saltwater fishing at its finest in Alabama. Our lakes, rivers and streams are home to a variety of species including bass, bream, crappie, catfish, walleye and rainbow trout to name a few!
At our Gulf State Park, the saltwater angler will find excitement in landing the big one from the pier or right from the beach. Everything from king mackerel, amberjack, cobia, flounder, bluefish, tuna and more. Many of our parks offer full marina services, including boat rentals, bait & tackle, snacks and cold drinks.
Regardless of the type of fishing you may choose, please be sure to check state licensing regulations and creel limits. For the more competitive anglers, several of our Alabama State Parks play host to a number of tournaments throughout the year and we welcome you and your family to join us. For more information about fishing in the coastal or freshwaters of Alabama, go to the Official Alabama Fishing Web Page.
You may purchase a fishing license online.
Plan a visit to the Gulf Pier
The Pier at Gulf State Park suffered damaged from Hurricane Zeta in 2020 and is partially open. We think the new construction will make the pier better than ever. Before the storm the following information was accurate.......The Gulf Pier reopened on Thursday, July 23, 2009 after the old pier was destroyed in 2004 by Hurricane Ivan. The pier is the largest pier on the Gulf of Mexico at 1,540 ft long and 41,800 sq ft in area.
The pier boasts features that were not available on the previous pier such as indoor seating for concession area, indoor retail area for tackle and souvenirs, comfort stations at the midpoint of the pier and wheelchair accessible rail fishing. The new pier has 2,448 feet of fishing space available along the rails. For more information please contact the pier at (251) 967-3474.
