Group Camping in the field at the South Trailhead at Oak Mountain State Park: XTERRA 2023!

*No RV’s are allowed to camp in the South Trail Head.*
About the Field: In the park’s South Trailhead there is a large, open, grassy field that we allow camping as a special amenity for events. There are restrooms located in the field and close to the field. Showers are accessible beside the field and at the Equine bathhouse and Pro Shop. Parking lots are located directly beside the field. Limited power outlets are available in the field and all pavilions near the field have access to power. The field is lined with trees suitable for hammock camping. *Images of field will be at the bottom of this webpage*
Pricing: $20.00 per site-per night fee is required. Entry Fees are included in this total.
A “Site” is classified as follows: 1 tent with 4 people max, 1 hammock with 1 person, 1 camper van with 4 people max, 1 overland unit with 4 people max.
Any additional guests over the allotted number per site will be charged a $5 fee per night. Only registered guests will be allowed to stay overnight, all guests must leave the park at 9pm.
How to Reserve: Spaces are limited! To reserve your site, you will need to call our Event Coordinators at #205-620-2536. You will book your site over the phone and receive a confirmation email when your booking is complete.
Spaces are first come first serve.
No Deposit will be required at the time of reservation.
Check-in: Check-in for XTERRA camping will be at the Main Office Friday and Saturday from 8:30am to 4pm. If you arrive after 4pm you will check-in at the Front Gate. The Front Gate is located on the South end of the park off the I-65 entrance.

The Back Gate entrance will not be checking in guests and the gate will be closed and locked daily from 8pm to 7am. Guests will be able to enter and exit the park 24/7 through the Front Gate only.
Cancellations: Please give our Event Coordinators a call at #205-620-2536 to cancel your reservation. Spaces are limited for camping, and they will be in high demand, so if you know you will not be able to make it to camp with us please let us know so we can offer the spot to another guest.
Housekeeping:
- No Fires are allowed on the ground. Open flames must be in a raised fire pit.
- Charcoal Grills are allowed but coals must be disposed of properly. Propane grills are allowed.
- Campers MUST camp in the field, no campers will be allowed to set up their camping unit outside of the field (this includes pavilions nearby or 20 yards beyond Woodline, etc.).
- Dogs are allowed but MUST be always on a leash and cannot be left unattended.
- State Park entrance fees will be enforced for any visitors. All campers must list any overnight guests at check-in.

- Alcohol is allowed in the field. No glass bottles please- they are a safety risk for our employees who handle trash.
Emergency Information: In case of emergency, dial 911. If non-emergency assistance is needed after hours, please contact #205-620-2520. This line is staffed 24-7. In case of severe weather, please shelter in nearest bathhouse or your vehicle.
